ABOUT ME...Proprietor
My name is Joey Shaw, B.F.A mcl, B.R.S, M.Ed.
I have a background in Art Education All levels and Gifted Elementary Curriculum. I hold 3 certifications to teach in Texas, Art all level, Elementary education EC-4, and a generalist SPED (special education). I have spent 20 years dedicating my life to creating art for social change projects, which includes Autism & ART research grants and publications, Mobile Loaves and Fishes Community First art project facilitatorfor Tricia Graham. While studying at Southwest Texas State University, I taught poetry and art to elementary school children and alternative high school students through the honors program, where I wrote my honor's thesis about galvanizing music, art and poetry. I co-founded Round Rock Art Academy as a non-profit with several grant programs in which I hosted a number of art projects within the community of Round Rock,TX. I created connections for the S.W.T.S.U. fine arts club to Gallery Lombardi in Austin, TX. I have been published in two magazines for my fiber's work and metals work. I helped to create two art festivals: Art Outside & Celebrate Our Salamander (Round Rock, TX) . I've painted commercial interior murals and faux finishes for The University of Texas in Austin and Scandinavia Contemporary Interiors. I LOVE to paint, work with mosaics and play with clay to create a variety of pottery pieces. I have taught dance for Dance Another World in Austin, TX and provide dance and art group lessons in the summer through Vortex Sports Academy! I provide art workshops, camps and classes, as well as private parties and gatherings in a variety of 2-d/ 3-d disciplines. I hope to grow into a school richly grounded in a variety of the creative arts for our local community of Pflugerville. I invite you to come grow with me!
